Review: Margarita Bloom Ravishing Rosalee Serum, Deodorant, and Le Fleur Rose Water

Disclaimer: I did not purchase these products. I won them in an Instagram contest at Viva Las Vegas. All opinions are my own.

I love me a good Instagram contest. I hardly ever win, but I sure do try. I guess my time came while at Viva Las Vegas. I stopped by the VintageHairstyling.com booth and they were holding a contest to win a gift set from Margarita Bloom. I posted my entry and hoped for good luck. And I won!

New Beginnings

Wow, I can’t believe I started this blog almost two years ago! I wasn’t very good at keeping up with posts, was I? I guess I was getting frustrated both with my lack of free time and lack of vintage/rockabilly scene in my area. But! I just returned from Viva Las Vegas 18, which happened this past weekend, and I am inspired. Being around so many people with the same interests was really amazing, and it was a dream to meet some of my favorite bloggers, YouTubers, and models. Seeing them (and meeting some – I was too shy to introduce myself to all, although I did exchange small talk while in the vendor areas with a couple) made me want to try my hand at lifestyle blogging again. Hey – everyone starts somewhere!

So this is a new beginning! Up first will be Viva recap posts and sharing my experience as a first-time attendee (I had TONS of questions before I went). Also expect some fashion and beauty product reviews, hair tutorials, music finds, craft tutorials, recipes, and more. I’m really looking forward to sharing my little corner of the rockabilly life with you!

Howdy!

Heya, cats and kittens, welcome to Pearls & Pin Curls! I’m Samantha, a 20-something museum professional living in beautiful Upstate New York with my husband and our two cats, Lola and Godric. I love everything vintage and rockabilly. In the small town where we live, nestled in the gently sloping foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, there isn’t much of a rockabilly or pin-up scene. But I don’t let that stop me! I don’t mind the stares, and more often than not, I get compliments from strangers.

rosieI have always been drawn to the music, style, and fashion of the 40s, 50s, and 60s, but I didn’t really start outwardly expressing my obsession until a few years ago. Lots of YouTube tutorials, poring over vintage and rockabilly blogs, and shopping and sewing has brought me to where I am today, and I love it. Visit my “About Me” tab for more information on my personal style, inspiration, and other passions.

This blog is my little corner of the internet for sharing tips and tricks for living the rockabilly lifestyle, DIY how-tos (clothing and home decor and more, oh my!), hair and makeup tutorials, retro and retro-inspired drink and food recipes, sharing vintage finds, and whatever else this crazy life brings. These next few months are going to be very exciting – Rockabilly Blast Off on Long Island, a huge antique and vintage flea on the river, and preparations for my very first trip to Viva Las Vegas in April. I can’t wait to share these experiences with you all, and hopefully make some new friends along the way!
